Each October, the US Department of Labor celebrates National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). According to the Department, this is a month “to commemorate the many contributions of people with disabilities to America’s workplaces and economy.” Locally, we celebrate this each and every week!
In honor of #NDEAM, I would like to share an employee spotlight from the Ranch:
Dependable, hard-working, ambitious, and persistent – these are the first four descriptors that come to mind when I think of my team member, Brian. Brian has been working part-time alongside me at our ranch since early this year.
Our primary work here at Thiessen Ranch is raising and selling Angus beef direct to consumers both locally and across the country. To that end, Brian works hard each week to help me pack beef, label and brand packaging, prepare shipments, keep our workspaces clean, and make local deliveries. He also completes data entry into our email platform, keeping our online database current.
We are a small, family-run business, with only a little bit of part-time help (to maintain our pastures and help feed cattle) aside from my husband and our sons. When Brian started work, it was quickly clear to me that not only did I need the assistance, but the help he provided quickly became invaluable to our success.
Three cheers for Brian!
